Carson City Sheriff's Office busts theft ring

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has made two arrests related to an extensive theft and stolen property ring.

The an investigation started with the report of “porch pirates” stealing packages from residences in Carson City on Dec. 3.

The subsequent investigation led to the service of two search warrants, the recovery of property, and additional arrests. By the conclusion of the investigation, additional stolen property was recovered as being tied to myriad vehicle and property thefts and a residential burglary from Oct. 26 through Dec. 3.

Recovered were: two trailers; two ATVs; four tires and a fire pit. Total value of recovered property is $11,600.


On Dec. 4, David Lee Long, 44 of Las Vegas, was arrested in connection to the porch thefts. He being held on six counts of grand larceny or a motor vehicle, one count of residential burglary, one count of possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and convicted person failure to register. His bail is set at $102,500.


Also arrested was Cody James Singleton, 34, of Carson City. He is being held on three counts of possession of a stolen vehicle. Bail was set at $75,000.

Still sought is Fernando Luna, 38, of Carson City. He is sought on charges related to probation violation and stolen property possession.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team was assisted by the Gang Unit, Northern Nevada Safe Streets Task Force (FBI), and the Nevada Department of Public Safety: Tri-County Drug Task Force (TRINET) in making the arrests.
