A man charged with multiple counts of sexual assault of a minor and kidnapping was arrested in Henderson by Carson City Sheriff’s officers, according to a news release from the CCSO.
CCSO’s investigations division special enforcement team arrested Francisco Javier Canales-Ruiz, 55, during a fugitive apprehension operation in Henderson on Dec. 13, the release said.
Canales-Ruiz was wanted in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving children and was arrested for a felony warrant on the following charges:
• Sexual Assault on a Child Under 14 Years Old (four counts)
• Lewdness Upon a Child Under 14 Years Old (five counts)
• Sexually Motivated Kidnapping in the First Degree (two counts)
• Child Abuse (two counts)
Canales-Ruiz was arrested by SET with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation: Northern Nevada Safe Streets Task Force, Southern Nevada Criminal Apprehension Team, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department: Sexual Offender Apprehension Detail.
He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and extradited to Carson City.
Canales-Ruiz is being held on $500,000 bond.
