A California man accused of shooting a Douglas County Sheriff’s sergeant waived his preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Nicholas Berreman, 21, appeared in East Fork Justice Court where attorney Brian Filter presented the waiver.
Berreman is accused of shooting Sgt. John Lenz during Dec. 20 gunbattle in downtown Gardnerville.
Lenz is expected to fully recover.
Justice of the Peace Cassandra Jones ordered Berreman to appear in Douglas County District Court on Feb. 22.
Berreman is being held in Douglas County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
Waiving a preliminary hearing is not an admission of guilt.
