Gov. Steve Sisolak says Nevada is now leading all states and territories when it comes to the percentage of vaccine doses administered.
He said the Federal Emergency Management Agency says Nevada has received 324,275 doses of the vaccines and administered 248,748 of them — 76.7 percent of all doses received.
“These numbers are a result of a statewide concentrated effort to use every resource at our disposal and to focus our collective efforts on this historic immunization effort,” he said. “While we are still not getting the number of doses we’d like, the state and our local partners are efficiently administering the doses we currently receive.”
Sisolak said he will continue fighting for more doses in Nevada. He said the state is also getting help from FEMA and the federal Health and Human Services Department which has provided 130 personnel to help Clark, Washoe and the Quad County area in immunization efforts.
In addition, he said FEMA has announced that states including Nevada will be reimbursed retroactively for a long list of costs and services dating back to January 2020. That includes the cost of National Guard personnel mobilization as well as masks, gloves, emergency feeding and sheltering at risk populations.
“This is extremely welcome news for the state of Nevada,” he said, adding state and local governments have shouldered the costs of the pandemic.
He said reimbursement for the Guard is especially important since the Guard continues to be a vital part of the state’s response to the pandemic.
