Carson City Sheriff warns of another phone scam

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has received calls regarding another phone scam.
Scammers are contacting people via phone claiming to be fundraising on behalf of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. The conversations consist of the scammers claiming to be raising funds to assist with the “defund the police cause.”
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office does not solicit money from citizens for any political matters. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office also does not participate in fundraising by means of telephone solicitation. Anyone contacted should not engage in communication, provide credit card information or any other personal information over the phone to any unconfirmed sources.
If you are contacted by anyone claiming to be affiliated to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office or any other unconfirmed sources, it is recommended you contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office directly to confirm the source prior to any further interactions with the solicitors.
