Due to inclement weather across the country delaying the delivery of COVID-19 vaccine to Nevada, Carson City Health and Human Services is having to reschedule upcoming COVID-19 vaccination events.
There is no estimated time for when the vaccine will be delivered. CCHHS is not canceling events or appointments; events may be rescheduled but the appointments will not be canceled so you may still receive an appointment confirmation.
The following events are rescheduled:
• The 2nd dose event at the Lyon County Fairgrounds in Yerington
Originally scheduled for Feb. 17 (was previously rescheduled for Feb. 19)
Rescheduled date will be set once vaccine arrives
• The 1st dose event at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville
Originally scheduled for Feb. 18
Rescheduled date will be set once vaccine arrives
• The 2nd dose event at Carson Valley Inn
Originally scheduled for Feb. 20 -21 at the Douglas County Senior Center
Rescheduled for: Feb. 27 at the Douglas County Senior Center or Douglas County Fairgrounds (recipients will be notified of the location once their appointment is rescheduled).
Appointment times will remain the same. Those who were scheduled to receive their vaccines at these events will not need to make another appointment.
Once CCHHS receives the vaccine and sets the dates, patients will receive an email confirmation of their vaccine appointment with the new date. If the patient does not have an email, they will receive a phone call from CCHHS notifying them of the rescheduled date.
The second dose events that are being rescheduled were for Moderna second doses. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is a series vaccine consisting of two doses administered 28 days apart. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Moderna COVID-19 vaccines may be administered up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose without changing the efficacy of the vaccine.
Events are by appointment only. Those without an appointment and those who are not eligible will be turned away. Questions? Call the Quad-County COVID-19 Hotline Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 775-434-1988.
