Evacuations for the Spring Valley and Holbrook areas are lifted at 1 p.m. today and residents are allowed to return to their homes.

All road closures have been lifted including the closure on Highway 395. Power restoration for 124 residents along the Highway 395 corridor is 2 p.m., according to NVEnergy.com Power company workers are placing poles and restoring electrical line along the route, having restored power to 59 homes on Monday morning.

A flash flood watch has been issued for the Sierra Front 1-9 p.m. today for slow-moving thunderstorms and heavy rainfall over steep terrain, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

"Recently burned areas from the Tamarack Fire between US 395 and Highway 89 in and around the communities of Spring Valley and Holbrook Junction could be most impacted by locally heavy rainfall and flooding," forecasters said.

Tamarack Fire stopped growing at 66,744 acres, as of Monday morning’s situation report.

More than 1,600 firefighters are working the fire as three-dozen hand crews and 121 engines took advantage of the slow-down to overhaul hot spots.

Containment on the fire reached 45 percent, mostly along Highway 88 and Highway 395 where the fire burned most recently.

Highway 395 reopened on Monday morning, but most of the traffic consisted of fire apparatus and NV Energy trucks

The fire burned right up to the highway in Double Spring Flat, claiming as many as 13 structures. Electricity is still out to 183 homes and businesses in the fire area as of Monday morning with an estimated restoration of noon. That may change based on repairs being conducted along the Highway 395 corridor.

Caltrans has reopened Highway 395 in northern Mono County. The highway was originally closed on July 21 due to the expanding Tamarack Fire. Highway 88 reopened on Monday morning through Alpine County. Highway 89 remains closed from Woodfords Junction to Highway 395.
