Several Fallon cowboys and cowgirls punched their ticket to the national rodeo in Lincoln, Neb., or the Silver State International Rodeo – or even both – after competing in this month’s high school and junior high school state rodeo.

The SSIR kicks off on June 30 and runs through July 7 in Winnemucca. The National High School Finals Rodeo runs from July 18-24 at the Lancaster Event Center in Nebraska.

In the high school division in qualifying for nationals, Oasis Academy senior Ali Norcutt won the reined cow horse and girls cutting events while taking third in breakaway roping to qualify. Churchill County High School senior Bethie Ikonen won the goat tying event, and CCHS senior Jayden Jensen took second in the breakaway roping. Tylie Norcutt placed second in the reined cow horse, and Flint Schacht placed third in bull riding.

Jarrett Peek placed third in team roping with partner Amelia Lancaster of Battle Mountain to also qualify.
