U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto on Monday announced Nevada will receive more than $155.4 million to support public transportation systems to get Nevadans to vaccination sites.
“Many of Nevada’s essential workers and hardworking families rely on public transportation to get to work and to access vital health care services including vaccination appointments,” she said.
She said state, local and tribal governments will get the money.
Most of the money, $131 million, will go to the Las Vegas area.
But Carson City will receive $421,296 to support and expand its public transit system and Reno will receive just over $20 million. The Lake Tahoe region will get just over $2 million.
In addition, four tribal governments, the Elko Band Council, Fallon Paiute-Shoshones, Pyramid Lake Paiutes and Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, will also receive grants.
