Fallon upsets Spring Creek; Oasis drops non-league contest

One night after dropping a three-set match to Dayton on Senior Night, the Lady Wave volleyball team rebounded by taking down one of the top teams in the 3A East.

Cassie Edgmon led the team with a nine-kill performance, Aisha Sharron recorded 17 total blocks and Sativa Clark finished with 13 assists as Fallon held off Spring Creek in five games after winning the first two before a 15-13 final game win on Saturday at the Elmo Derrico Gym.

Fallon travels to Fernley on Friday and Lowry on Saturday to close out the regular season. No playoffs are scheduled for the season, but the No. 1 and No. 2 teams, Nos. 3 and 4, and Nos. 5 and 6, will face each other at the higher seed’s site. Fallon is tied with Fernley in fourth place.

In a 1A-2A clash, Oasis Academy fell to Pershing County in straight sets. The Bighorns travel to Excel Christian in Sparks on Thursday before hosting Pyramid Lake on Friday at 4 p.m. for Senior Night. Sadie O’Flaherty, Taryn Barrenchea and Sequoya Casey will suit up for their final home game.

Oasis Academy will play in the 1A West-Central single-elimination regional tournament next Friday in Tonopah.

The following are results from the Greenwave’s games this season.

March 5, Elko (L, 3-1)
Edgmon led the team with 14 kills and had one block, while Clark had six kills and two blocks. Senior Lacee Wallace led the team in digs with 11 and Zoey Lingenfelter added five. Clark posted 16 assists and Emily Clyburn had 12 to go with two aces.

March 6, Dayton (L, 3-0)
In the road loss, Edgmon led with eight kills, one block and two digs, and Clark and senior Addie Sandberg each had six kills. Senior Aisha Sharron led with two blocks and four digs, and Wallace had 10 digs. Clark finished with 19 assists and Clyburn had 10 and three aces.

March 10, Fernley (W, 3-0)
In the first win of the season, Edgmon recorded eight kills, Clark and Sandberg each added six and Stephens had four. Sharron led in blocks with two and had four digs, while Wallace led in digs with 10. Clark posted 19 assists and Clyburn had 10 to go with three aces.

March 12, Spring Creek (L, 3-2)
In this five-set thriller, Edgmon led the team with 18 kills and added seven digs, while Clark added seven kills, three aces, two blocks and 24 assists. Wallace scored 17 digs, Stephens had seven digs and Sharron had six. Clyburn finished with three aces and 12 assists.

March 19, Lowry (L, 3-0)
Edgmon recorded six kills and six digs, Clark and Maddie Stephens each had three kills, and Wallace added 10 digs and four aces. Clark finished with eight assists and a trio of digs and kills. Clyburn had three assists.

March 20, Elko (W, 3-1)
Edgmon recorded a double-double with 23 kills and 11 digs, and Stephens added eight kills and seven digs. Wallace led the team in digs with 21, and Sharron had 12 and Lingenfelter added 10. Clark finished with 29 assists and Clyburn had 16 and a pair of aces.

March 26, Dayton (L, 3-0)
In Friday’s loss, Edgmon led with three kills and seven aces. Clark finished with a team-high nine aces and 18 assists. Sharron had four blocks.
