Fire: A fire broke out in the old hurdy house corner of Fourth and Ormsby streets. The hurdy house was a large frame building, owned by William Magee, and insured. The work was that of an incendiary as the building was vacant.

Searching for autoist: Frank Wiltse is in the hospital in critical condition, his wife badly injured and his 4-year-old daughter bruised. The three were driving from Sparks to Reno with a horse and rig when hit by a speed bug. The speed bug never stopped to find out the damage inflicted.

Plant trees: G. W. G. Ferris, of the Carson Nursery, three blocks west of the St. Charles Hotel, gives notice elsewhere that he had just received from the East a lot of chestnut, sugar maple, black walnut, butternut, soft maple, and elm trees, which he will dispose of to first comers on reasonable terms.

Gets jail: I. G. Freeman was found guilty by the federal jury. Judge Farrington sentenced him to a fine of $40 on the three counts and to four months in the Washoe county jail. He had been operating a still with a quantity of mash and nearly 200 gallons of new manufactured whiskey.

Stewardess interviews: Young, unmarried girls interested in a career as a flying stewardess for American Airlines may apply at the Riverside hotel. Starting salary for stewardesses is $185 per month. Applicants must be unmarried, between the ages of 21 and 27; not less than five feet and no more than five feet seven inches in height, and must have normal vision without glasses. A high school education is required.
