Nevada’s Board of Examiners on Tuesday approved the state’s first collective bargaining agreement.
Gov. Steve Sisolak said the agreement is with the Nevada State Law Enforcement Officers Association.
Certain groups of state employees won that right in the 2019 Legislature.
There are currently three other employee groups negotiating collective bargaining agreements with the state, including Nevada’s correctional officers.
Under the law, the agreements must not only be approved by the Board of Examiners but, if there are any economic impacts such as raises, by the Legislature.
“Collective bargaining has allowed for state employees to have a larger seat at the table and I’m proud to see the first agreement approved and on its way to the Legislature,” Sisolak said.
