The Nevada Assembly on Tuesday introduced a bill adding almost $16 million to the legislative branch budget.
AB489 appropriates $11.4 million for capital improvement projects and $4,583,500 to the Legislative Fund for computer hardware, voting system modernization, security upgrades and broadcast infrastructure. That money also funds dues to national and regional organizations.
That comes to $15,986,500.
AB489 is on top of the $15 million in Senate Bill 1 that paid for the cost of the 2021 session.
The legislative website gave no indication what capital improvement projects the money would fund. But in a December memo to the Legislative Commission, Director Brenda Erdoes listed $2.8 million for repairs and maintenance at the legislative building including replacement of the roof, ADA compliance for the east entrance, coatings on the garage floors and new cooling towers, HVAC work and repairs to the stucco walls of the building.
That memo also listed $875,500 over the biennium for annual dues and training for staff and lawmakers.
