The Campagni Cares program is in the final few months of the year, and Veterans Day, Carson City Toyota donated to the Veterans Guest House.
“We’ve been grateful to learn about so many unique organizations in our community through ‘Campagni Cares’ this year,” said Jeff Campagni, general manager of Carson City Toyota. “Veterans Guest House caught our attention for both the group they serve and the excellent work they do.”
Many veterans are used to receiving special attention each year on the federal recognition of Veterans Day, but the Veterans Guest House works to ensure they aren’t forgotten about those remaining days.
“Without the Guest House, many veterans and their families would sleep in their cars or would not receive the medical care they need,” said Sylvia DuBeau, chief executive officer of Veterans Guest House. “Today, the house can sleep 33 individuals and their families while they receive critical health care.”
Veterans Guest House opened in 1994 and serves to eliminate barriers between veterans and their medical care. With veterans’ health care, most major services must be administered at a qualified Veterans Administration Hospital to be covered. In Nevada, this means the closest facility can be hundreds of miles away for some rural veterans.
Donations are a critical aspect of the ongoing operations and services of the house, ensuring America’s heroes never have to refuse healthcare.
In addition to the overnight accommodations, the house also provides resources often missed out on by many low-income vets. Many guests of the facility have limited to access to consistent food and personal care items. Donations also help keep the semi-private rooms and a community kitchen stocked with donated food and other important items like shampoo, soap and more.
If you’d like to donate, sign up to volunteer, or to simply learn more about Veterans Guest House, visit https://www.veteransguesthouse.org/. They also maintain a wish list on their website with currently most-needed items, as well as drop off information.
Finally, Veterans Guest House is also available as a participant of the Amazon Smile program, where Amazon will donate a portion of your purchases to your selected organization. For information, visit www.smile.amazon.com.
Don’t forget, there is one month left to nominate your charity! Carson City Toyota will select one community-nominated charity to donate money to and feature in a community spotlight.
