The Salvation Army of Carson City and The Salvation Army of Washoe County will host their annual Operation Turkey Drop on Thursday.
The goal of the day-long event is to collect turkeys for hundreds of families in need in Washoe and Douglas counties, according to a news release. The families who will receive a turkey have already signed up for the nonprofits’ Angel Tree Program, which also provides toys to children at Christmastime. Donors can give a turkey in person at one of two events below or make a gift online to either carsonturkeydrop.org or renoturkeydrop.org.
You can learn more about Angel Tree, adopt a family or shop online at myangeltree.org.
Locations are Max Casino, 900 S. Carson St., in Carson City, and The Salvation Army of Reno, 1931 Sutro St., in Reno.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
