Walk To School Day is set for Oct. 6 in Carson City and Nevada Department of Transportation officials expect many school children in the area will either walk or bicycle to school. A spokesman said children not taking part in an organized event are encouraged to plan now so they can do so safely. Pedestrian Coordinator Scott Bohemier said the event is an opportunity for children to learn more about pedestrian and bicycle safety and the physical activity is excellent for them.
