The federally funded program to provide grants to children with disabilities has been shut down after just three days.

State Treasurer Zach Conine said response to the program announced Monday was tremendous with more than 2,000 applications received.

The initial $5 million in American Rescue Program funds allocated to the program will provide $5,000 grants to 1,000 of those applicants.

He said as a result, the program is no longer accepting applications at this time.

Conine said because of the response to the program, the state will work to determine whether more funding can be made available.

Families of the initial applicants will be notified by email of the status of their application and what the next steps are.

Families of children who were unable to apply this week are encouraged to sign up for future notifications if and when added funding is found for the program. They can do so at NevadaTreasurer.gov/TOTS.
