The Lady Bighorns rebounded from a high-scoring doubleheader split against Pyramid Lake by blanking Sierra Sage Academy/ROP and Mineral County last week. Oasis Academy defeated Sierra Sage, 19-0, and Mineral County, 15-0, and travels to Mineral County today to conclude the series. Senior Kaitlyn Hert led the team at the plate against Mineral County with four RBIs, while sophomore Eneyde Rios drove in two. Junior Madison Darst, sophomores Rios, Mackenzie Bryant and Sophie Aguilar, and freshmen Kaylin Guthrie, Lorena Rios, Taylynn Maynez and Kisten Detomasi each had an RBI. In the pitcher’s circle, Detomasi threw all three innings in the mercy rule-induced victory. She struck out seven of the 12 batters she faced. In the 19-0 win over Sierra Sage, Loreno Rios drove in three and Detomasi had two RBIs. Detomasi and Maynez each led the team with two hits. Both Rios and Detomasi tripled. Detomasi struck out five in four innings, yielding one hit and one walk. Girls lacrosse After reaching last spring’s semifinals, the Lady Bighorns lacrosse team is off to a rough start this season. Oasis Academy opened the season with a home loss to Truckee/North Tahoe, 12-4, and is still looking for its first win after dropping the next three. Oasis Academy lost to Manogue, 16-2; Reno, 7-1; and McQueen, 16-4. Oasis Academy hosts McQueen on Friday at 5 p.m. at the county fields.
