The Carson City Planning Commission will meet Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Robert “Bob” Crowell Board Room at the Community Center on 851 E. William St.
Among their agenda items, the commission will
• Choose a chair and vice chair for the year.
• Review a request from Friends in Service Helping to amend a special use permit. FISH is constructing multi-family apartments on 1421 N. Carson St., and it would like to incorporate additional adjacent parcels into the project site. The apartments will house residents who are part of FISH’s Fast Forward 4 Families program, offering workforce training and housing so that adults can seek higher-skilled and higher-paying jobs.
• Review a special use permit request from a 207-unit apartment complex, The Altair, on 201 E. William St. and 222 E. Washington St. The developers are building in the Downtown Mixed-Use zone, and they’re seeking alternative compliance to the building standards. For example, they would like to construct a narrower sidewalk, but include a wider planting area between the sidewalk and the street.
Residents are welcome to attend the meeting in-person to comment on any agenda item or submit comments in advance to planning@carson.org. Hard copies of public comment may also be mailed or dropped-off to the Planning Division at 108 E. Proctor St.
