A homicide investigation has been opened after sheriff’s deputies found a dead woman at a Dayton trailer park Monday, according to a news release from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect in the homicide suffered an apparent self-inflicted wound and was transported to a hospital, the release said.
Neither the victim nor the suspect nor the nature of the injuries were identified in the LCSO release.
On Monday, July 18 at approximately 2:43 p.m., Lyon County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies were dispatched to the Dayton Valley Mobile Home Park, 1000 Highway 50 East in Dayton, in reference to a suicidal subject, according to LCSO.
Deputies found the adult female, who was declared deceased on scene, and the adult male, who was transported for medical care. The male’s injuries appeared to be self-inflicted while the female’s injuries “appeared to be the result of a criminal act,” the release said, and detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau started a homicide investigation.
“Note, this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public,” the release said.
People with information are asked to call Detective Sgt. Mike Messmann at 775-577- 5206 extension 3; reference case number 22LY02989.
