Air quality in Northern Nevada at 6:30 a.m.
Carson City’s air quality is unhealthy to start the week as the Oak Fire near Yosemite continues to rage.
The smoke is expected to impact the valleys in the morning and evenings throughout the week.
The fire is burning near Midpines, Calif., about 9-miles northeast Mariposa. The fire is at 14,000 acres and 0 percent contained as of Sunday.
Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency after the fire forced more than 3,000 people to evacuate. That number is down from the first reported number of evacuees from the fire officials.
“How long will the smoke affect the region? That is dependent on the intensity and activity of the fire or any possible additional fires through the week,” the National Weather Service wrote.
High temperatures will remain throughout the week with a chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday.
