David Lowe, special education teacher at Fremont Elementary School in Carson City, has been chosen by the Nevada Mining Association as one of 50 teachers across the Silver State to be honored with a $50 gift card during Teacher Appreciation Week.
NVMA sought nominations from community members for their favorite teachers, counselors and educational professionals for a chance to win a $50 gift card. Nearly 500 nominations were submitted, and 50 standout individuals were chosen to receive a total of $2,500.
Lowe was selected for his continued efforts educating students with disabilities with care, compassion, patience and dedication, encouraging them to believe in themselves and know they can accomplish their goals and dreams by working hard.
“Our gift card giveaway is just a small way to thank the one-of-a-kind educators like Mr. Lowe, who are cultivating Nevada’s most precious resource, its children,” said NVMA President Tyre Gray. “Our mining community is a committed partner to education because it’s not just the right thing to do, but we are also proud to call Nevada home and want the best for our teachers, children and their futures."
NVMA’s Teacher Appreciation Week gift card giveaway is now in its third year and has provided a total of $7,500 to 150 teachers since inception.
