The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from people interested in serving on the city’s Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee and the Audit Committee.
For redevelopment, there are two open positions: one for a business or property owner in redevelopment area 1, and one for a business or property owner in redevelopment area 2.
Both terms would expire in January 2026.
The committee’s primary purpose is to make recommendations to the Redevelopment Authority on redevelopment area plans, incentive programs, special event funding, and other matters pertaining to the redevelopment district. Applicants should be aware that a minimum commitment of up to 10 hours a month is expected, and there is no compensation. Applicants must also be Carson City registered voters.
Applications submitted are considered public information and will be accepted until Jan. 4. Interviews for the volunteer position will be tentatively scheduled for the Jan. 19 Board of Supervisors meeting.
Supervisors are also seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on the Audit Committee as citizens at-large. There are two open positions to fill a term ending December 2024, and one open position to fill a partial term ending December 2023.
Applicants must be residents of Carson City and have experience in financial services, public accounting, or government auditing, and have knowledge of public laws and regulations governing an audit committee. Applicants may not accept any consulting, advisory, or other compensatory fees from the city and may not be an affiliated person with the city or any of its subsidiaries.
The role of the Audit Committee is to maintain oversight of the auditing function, internal and external, resulting in increased integrity and efficiency of the audit processes for the city and the city’s system of internal controls and financial reporting.
The committee meetings are held at least quarterly. Applicants should be prepared for a minimum commitment of up to three hours a month, and there is no compensation.
Applications are considered public information and will be accepted until Dec. 21. Interviews for this volunteer position are tentatively scheduled for the Board of Supervisors meeting Jan. 5.
