Seventeen years after the Walmart opened its Carson City Supercenter off Retail Drive in October 2005, the store celebrated its grand “reopening” after completely remodeling the inside and repainting the exterior.
While there were stacks of boxes in the aisle throughout the remodeling process, the store remained open. Gone is the mid-2000's outdoor orange paint in favor of a more subdued blue and gray. There are more outdoor pick-up bays for those who order online. The inside has been fully rearranged and is more open featuring better marked aisles. Because of popular demand, more electronic self-check-out stands were added near both entrances for faster check-out.
“The first most important date for the Carson City Walmart was the opening in 2006 with the grand re-opening today as the second most important date for the this store. The store employs 179 full-time employees, all of whom are proud of the new look,” said store manager Jose Eseberre.
The early morning celebration was truly a high energy event. On hand to help celebrate were Assemblyman PK O'Neill, Mayor Lori Bagwell, and past Chamber Chair Rob Joiner who offered congratulatory remarks.
As part of their continued commitment to our community, Eseberre presented a $5,000 check to Brett Zunino, executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.
