The Greenwave volleyball team ended its crossover schedule with a sweep over Sparks last Monday before dropping a four-game match on Wednesday to open 3A East play.

Fallon cruised past Sparks, 25-7, 25-17 and 25-13 at the Elmo Dericco Gymnasium, before falling to Lowry on the road, 25-19, 17-25, 23-25 and 22-25.
Individual player statistics were not available.
Volleyball
The Oasis Academy volleyball team swept Pyramid Lake last Monday, 26-24, 26-24 and 25-21, for its first league win of the season.
Stacy Bogdanowicz led the Bighorns in kills with six and Shelbi Bracken had two. Madison Darst led in aces with seven, Bogdanowicz had five and Kayla Ortiz added four.
Girls golf
The Greenwave girls golf team competed in Dayton last Tuesday, posting a team score for the first time.
Hannah Benjamin led Fallon with a 116 followed by Charissa Chenoweth at 122 and Madison Gregory with a 150. Megan Johnson finished with a 154 and Addi Diaz had a 162. The top score went to Douglas’ Giana Zinke, who carded a 78.
In Fernley on the following day, Fallon improved its team score with Chenoweth leading the team with a 107 followed by Benjamin at a 111. Gregory finished with a 135 followed by Johnson with a 143 and Diaz with a 150.
Cross Country
Oasis Academy freshman Matthew Bird finished 14th in Saturday’s Truckee Cross Country Invite, running the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes, 9 seconds. Freshman Jay Frederick finished in 25:55 and freshman Trevor Dunlap had a 32:49. The top time was Wooster’s Atticus Reyher, who finished the course in 18:32.
Soccer
After suffering a 17-0 blowout loss to McQueen, a 5A school, last Monday, the Greenwave boys soccer team responded the next day with a 4-3 home win over Lowry to open 3A East play.
Fallon outscored the Buckaroos 4-1 in the first half and held on the second half for the league win.
The girls’ team is still searching for its first win after opening league play against Lowry, losing 6-2 on Thursday in Winnemucca.
Zoey Jarrett and Yasmien Laceste each scored for Fallon with Laceste and Lizbeth Ballesteros recording an assist.
Tennis
The CCHS girls tennis team picked up a 5-0 win over North Tahoe on Sept. 15 before tying North Valleys, 9-9, on Sept. 22 in Reno.
Fallon’s boys tennis team fell to North Tahoe, 10-7, on Sept. 15 before dropping a pair last week to South Tahoe, 15-3, and North Valleys, 14-4.
