The Symphony Youth Chorus (formerly Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir) will begin its fall semester on Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., upstairs at the First United Methodist Church, 412 W. Musser St., in Carson City.

The chorus, led by Michelle Powers, welcomes children ages 4 to 12. Performances will be at senior centers, retirement homes, and the Symphony Youth Strings concert will be on Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Carson City Community Center.

Tuition for the semester is free. To help offset the cost of music, supplies, insurance, the instructor’s and accompanist’s stipends, and more, parents may join the Carson City Symphony Association, but it is not a requirement.

The Symphony Youth Chorus is supported in part by public funds through a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts and by private donations.
