•••

Carson City’s business climate is the topic at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. Carson City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ronni Hannaman will be the featured speaker at the Feb, 28 meeting. The public is invited to attend the luncheon meeting takes place at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

“Our business community remains strong, and I believe our business environment will remain that way into the future,” Hannaman said. “But it’s not without a few challenges. Our service industry is struggling to hire personnel. We have numerous business that need staff on site and can’t offer work from home positions. We need to address that.”

Hannaman will also talk about the need for a convention center in Carson City to help grow our tourism industry.

“That would be the icing on the cake when it comes to economic development. Many smaller communities have convention facilities. We should also work to attract a flagship branded hotel to our downtown core.”

While keeping an eye to the future, Hannaman says it’s important to honor the past. “We need to celebrate those who have been instrumental in shaping the city we know today, including many Rotarians. I will talk about some of those leaders and visionaries.”
