Sierra Nevada Realtors raised more than $36,500 during the 20th annual Alyce McCracken Golf Tournament fundraiser at the Toiyabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley on June 2.
According to a news release, the funds will go toward supporting Northern Nevada’s youth through college scholarships across 22 schools. SNR said this year’s fundraising effort is the largest amount of money raised in the 20 years of the tournament.
“We are proud that we have been able to continue this golf tournament in honor of Alyce McCracken as a newly restructured association," said Christie Fernquest, co-president of SNR. "Coming together as realtors with our industry affiliates and giving back to the community is what we love to do. We aim to continue raising money for student scholarships with this annual fundraiser."
The Alyce McCracken Golf Tournament is named in honor of Northern Nevada realtor Alyce McCracken, who was passionate about supporting education and job training in the community, according to the release. Originally from Las Vegas, she moved to Carson City in 1973. She was a Sierra Nevada Realtors president from 1993 to 1994 and named Realtor of the Year in 1995. From 1989 to 1995, she was a recipient of the Realtors Circle of Honor. The Alyce McCracken Memorial Fund was set up by the Sierra Nevada Realtors in 1996.
“We are deeply grateful to the 120 golfers who participated in this special fundraiser honoring Alyce McCracken,” said April LaBrie, chief executive officer of SNR. “Alyce was very supportive of youth education, and we aim to honor her life through this annual charitable event in her memory.”
