Churchill County High School’s National Honor Society inducted 14 students during a ceremony last week at the high school auditorium.

Inductees include: Class of 2023, Gavin McLean, Jackson Moon, Steven Moon, Evelyn O’Neill and Brisa Ugalde; Class of 2024, AshLynn Gilman and Daniel Lords; Class of 2025, Alexis Haggard, Brody Hughes, James Kelsey, Braden Sorensen, Kylan Sorensen, Mason Storm and Dallin West.

The 2023-24 NHS chapter officers also were announced. The new officers are President Caitlyn Dock, Vice President Ronald Lee, Secretary Corin Cartwright, Treasurer Camryn Hook, Parliamentarian Johary Lozano and Public Service Officer/Historian Jessalyn Lewis.

Churchill County High School Vice Principal Reema Pulsifer gave the keynote address by answering the question, “What do I know about time?”

She ended with, “Nothing is more important in life than living it. The future isn't when happiness someday occurs, it is a continuation of you living every moment to the fullest.

"Now, until your last, make every trip around the sun better than the previous. Be the best version of yourself that you could be. Live the life you were meant to live. All it takes is a simple decision.

"Time is the most powerful, important tool that any of us will ever get because time will never go back. Time isn't the main thing, it's the only thing, and I can't wait to see what you do with your time.”

A recitation of the member’s pledge and a solemn candle-lighting ceremony highlighted the society’s standards of scholarship, leadership, service and character.

CCHS Principal Tim Spencer offered congratulatory remarks, saying that the students are “the best of the best” and that he found it to be a humbling experience to watch the presentation.

Spencer also led the inductees in a round of applause for their families, and a network who had supported them in working towards their achievements.
