This year’s 23rd annual Soroptimist Home & Garden Show at the Fallon Convention Center will feature one of the largest groups of vendors the event has had in years.
The show sponsored by the Soroptimist International of Fallon opens its doors at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and will remain open until 4 p.m., on Saturday and 3 p.m., on Sunday. There is a suggested donation of $1 per adult.
Businesses and individuals will showcase home improvement, home décor, garden décor, jewelry, plants, clothing, photography, real estate, metal art, crafts, telecommunications, food truck, community nonprofit, 4-H, a bounce house and more.
“I don't think it’s too much larger, but we do have several new vendors this year,” said Marcia Vinson, the publicist for the Home & Garden Show and a longtime member of Soroptimists. “We started advertising earlier this year, and I believe that helped. I did contact a number of new contacts that I saw on Facebook. We are always looking for new vendors so we can offer more variety.”
Vinson said the University of Nevada, Reno’s Extension is promoting their Master Gardener program. Deep Roots Bakery will have cakes, pies and breads. Other vendors include Gamma Dee' Designs (custom epoxy and sublimation products), Kim's Whimsical Upcycles (metal yard art and wind chimes), K & D Creations (handmade crafts).
“June & July (clothing), Fenyx Home Décor and 911 Water were not here last year but are returning vendors from the past,” Vinson said.
Vinson said the Home & Garden Show will feature a Show-n-Shine car show on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The show will be open to all years, makes and models. In addition to some of the finest vehicles, there will be food and crafts, music, family fun and awards. The Show-n-Shine car show is free, and for information, email sifallonclub@gmail.com.
“We had put on a car show several years ago and thought It would be a great addition to the home show and of course bring in more of the community,” she said.
Other vendors include Magical Party Rentals, Tin Can Crafts, CC Communications, Truckee Meadows Gourmet Express, Stampede Photography, Kim’s Whimsical Upcycles, Lattin Farms, Gamma Dees Designs, Bodacious Beads, Susan’s Homemade, Needle In A Haystack, Fanci-full of Whimsey, Banner Health, Sam’s Club, That Rocks!, Sparkles, Puppy’s Baker, Renewal by Anderson, Berney Realty, Quality First Home Improvement, Tops NV, Churchill County Coalition, Hearts of Gold Quilters, Churchill County 4H, Cub Scout Pack 38, University of Nevada Extension, Churchill Animal Protection Society, Fallon Animal Welfare Group (FAWG), and We Can Warriors Food Truck.
According to Soroptimist International, more than 73,000 members from around the world belong to thousands of Soroptimist clubs including the one in Fallon, which was formed 71 years ago. Their mission is, “Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.”
Vinson said proceeds will benefit local scholarships and community programs.

The Fallon club received its charter in 1953 with 25 members.
Soroptimists help women with their education or work training, and the club provides several scholarships to high school seniors. Other programs she mentioned include programs and awards such as the Ruby Award for women. The Ruby Award is presented to women who contribute to the community. the recipient gives a donation to a volunteer organization of their choice. Another local scholarship is named for Frances Aguirre.
The Live Your Dream award is presented to women who provide the primary financial support for their families. The Live Your Dream Award gives women the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.
