‘Music Here and Afar’ concert at community center Thursday

Carson City Symphony’s Youth Strings ensembles, Youth Chorus, and Not Quite Ready for Carnegie Hall Players adult intermediate string ensemble will feature the Scottish Highland in a "Music Here and Afar" concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

Performances are by students from pre-k through high school age and adults, including beginning violins and cellos; the Allegro and STRAZZ youth strings ensembles; youth chorus; and NQR.

Directors are Suzanne McGarraugh, Micah Dunn, Nancy Jones, Nancy Scott, and Melinda Reynolds. Guest dance director is Cullen Mitchell, leader of the Northern Nevada Highland Dancers.

The Symphony’s Not Quite Ready for Carnegie Hall Players is open to all adult intermediate-level string players. The concert is open to the public. Admission is free.
