Carson, Douglas wrestlers chosen to all-region teams

The Carson High and Douglas High wrestling teams had multiple members named to the Class 5A North all-region teams this week.

Starting at 106 pounds, Carson’s Jesse Oliva was named to the Class 5A North all-region first team. Oliva was a second team choice last winter.

At 113 pounds, Douglas’ Gunnar Bleeker was a first team selection while Carson’s Matthew Manley earned a spot on the second team.

Carson’s Keona Basa Holokai earned a first team nod at 120 pounds while Douglas’ Cody Highfill was a second team selection for the second season in a row.

Douglas’ Kai Blumenthal was rewarded with a second team all-region selection at 126 pounds, marking his second, second team selection.

Carson’s Lucas Wold was a first team selection at 132 pounds while Jett Rupert earned a first team spot at 138 pounds.

The honor marks Wold’s third consecutive season as a first team all-region selection. It’ll go as Rupert’s second all-region selection after being named to the second team last season.

Ean Thomas secured a second team all-region selection for Carson at 150 pounds while teammate AJ Marhevka and Douglas’ Dalton Nixon were second team honorees at 157 pounds. Nixon was a first team all-region recipient last season.

Carson had two selections at 165 pounds as Konnor Crisp collected first team honors while Ethan Linehan was a second team selection. Douglas’ Travis Haliwell also was a second team pick.

JT Heaton was a first team pick at 175 pounds for Carson while Douglas’ Izaak Conkle received second team honors. Heaton was a two-time second team honoree prior to this season.

Douglas’ Aaron Tekansik was a first team choice for 190 pounds for the second season in a row while the Senators’ Izaiah Oliva was placed on the second team.

At 215 pounds, Douglas’ Sage Adie capped his high school career with a first team all-region selection, his second in as many seasons.

In the heavyweight class, Carson’s Dominic Porter earned a first team all-region nod while Douglas’ Caden Martin and Cameron Alloway were second team choices.

It’s Porter’s first time as a first teamer after being chosen as a second team honoree last winter.


Girls all-region selections

On the girls side, starting at 100 pounds, Douglas’ Ella Kavanagh was chosen for the first team all-region squad.

Kavanagh was accompanied by fellow Tiger Bliss Moody, who was also chosen for first team all-region honors at 120 pounds.

For Kavanagh and Moody it marks the second straight season the two were first team selections.

Kelsie Allen Doney joined her two teammates with a second team all-region nod at 152 pounds.
