Councilwoman Karla Kent is seeking re-election to the Fallon City Council Ward 2.

“I have enjoyed being your representative,” she said in a statement announcing her re-election. “My focus has always been and will continue to be on the citizens of Fallon and those in Ward 2. I have always been accessible to you and have always made every effort to respond to you with information regarding your concerns, suggestions and questions.”

Ward 2 consists of southwest Fallon and is bound to the north by Williams Avenue and Center Street and to the east by Maine Street. Kent won election to the post in 2019.

Kent became president of Kent’s Supply in 1984 and owner in 1996. in Fallon. She is the great-great-granddaughter of Ira Kent, who founded the business. She was named a Legacy winner for Nevada in 2019 by the U. S. Small Business Administration

Kent said she has learned much from the residents who have reached out to her, and she strongly understands her fiduciary responsibilities to them.

During her first term, Kent said the city has made many street improvements and improved Oats Park with the pickle ball courts and splash pad. She also cited the opening of the Fallon on Ice skating rink to complement the city’s hometown Christmas celebration throughout the month of December.

Kent is the owner of Kent’s Supply Center, and she believe her business background helps the council.

“I serve on numerous boards — some as my position as city councilwoman — and others through my community involvement, including the Fallon Community Theatre, CARTS, Coalition for Senior Citizens, city of Fallon Audit Committee and the city of Fallon Cyber Security Council,” she said.

Kent is also a member of the Rotary Club of Fallon and PEO International.

“I make sure I stay apprised and educated on all items that come before the council,” Kent said. “Now that I have learned the operations, state controls and so many other things about the way the City of Fallon works, I can hit the ground running in a second term.”

If successful in her re-election, Kent said she will remain accessible to the community by continuing to maintain, improve and promote Fallon.
