The Carson High girls basketball team battled back from an early deficit to best McQueen, 51-39, in Carson on Friday.

It was the Senators’ first league victory since Jan. 6, 2022.

Lauren Finnerty led the way with 16 points, six rebounds and six steals as Carson grabbed 24 steals as a team.

Kiele Franco dropped 11 points to go along with four assists in the win.

“Everyone but two scored points,” said interim coach Nate Tolbert. “We played like a team. We’ve been rotating and played some really strong defense.”

UP NEXT: Carson (6-12, 1-8 in 4A North league play) will be on the road for both games this week. The Senators tangled with Spanish Springs (7-3 in 4A North league play) Tuesday before traveling to Reno High (4-6) on Thursday.

“That buzzer rang and I thought that monkey is off our back,” said Tolbert. “I couldn’t be more proud of the girls and the staff to make this happen.”
