Churchill County Sheriff’s deputy recognized for quick response

Churchill County Sheriff’s deputy Michael Hardin was recently recognized for his quick response during a medical emergency on June 25 near Interstate 80 east of Jessup. Sheriff Richard Hickox said a man was having a medical emergency. Upon arrival, Hardin located the juvenile patient, who was found to have a laceration on his right arm. Hickox said the laceration had been wrapped with a shirt to control the bleeding before the arrival of law enforcements personnel.

A 39-year-old Saratoga Springs, Utah, man was arrested in connection with the disappearance and allegedly murder of in Sara Filiatraut, 25. Filiatraut’s remains were found in Churchill County on May 22. She went missing on April 15 from Fernley.

UPDATE: Tahoe drowning victim identified by CCSO

The male drowned at Whale Beach, a secluded beach of Lake Tahoe within Carson City limits. Placer County Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call at 5:15 p.m. The victim was swimming in Lake Tahoe and began to struggle, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. He was brought to the beach after being underwater for several minutes.
