The Performing Arts of Churchill County take to the stage in the classic musical “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Churchill County High School Theatre, 1 Greenwave Cir. in Fallon. Shows are March 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. with an additional matinee March 2 at 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $18 at https://our.show/paccor $20 at the door.
The latest offering from PACC, Director Thomas Fleming and Musical Director David Ernst features a 51-member cast and live orchestra.
Set in 1905 Anatevka, Russia, “Fiddler on the Roof” is a nostalgic tribute to the Jewish culture that was lost in the Holocaust. Fallon's Ryan Sorensen skillfully steps into the iconic lead role of Tevye, a poor dairyman who struggles to maintain his beloved traditions amid challenges from his five daughters at home and the growing antisemitism in Russia.
Attention to detail is showcased in every aspect from choreography to costume design. The production also utilizes the recent upgrades to the CCHS auditorium lighting system. The original lights were cleaned and re-installed along with 24 new moving LED lights and two new spotlights. A particularly beautiful moment in shades of blue occurs on the double-decker set during the “Sabbath Prayer” evening song.
Donations will be accepted during the intermission “Minute to Give It” fundraiser for the Sara Swenson Memorial Performing Arts Scholarship. The annual scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors in Churchill County who have been active in the performing arts and are attending a college or trade school.
