Dayton baseball beats Fernley, Wooster

The Dayton High baseball team is off to a 5-3 start after wins over Fernley and Wooster.

The Dust Devils beat Fernley, 11-4, Monday behind a 2-for-4 day from senior Ty Francis. Francis hit a home run and drove in four RBIs.

Freshman pitcher River Aten struck out seven over four innings.

Sophomore Beau Walker had a pair of doubles.

Wednesday, Dayton beat Wooster 10-2 in four innings.

Dallan Cowee was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for the Dust Devils while junior Ivor Evans also drove in three RBIs while going 2-for-2.

Freshman Duke Evans struck out two hitters in four innings while also driving in a pair of runs.

UP NEXT: Dayton (5-3) had a doubleheader. The Dust Devils return to play March 22 at Spring Creek (7-1).


Dayton softball routs South Tahoe

The Dust Devil softball team is 5-0 after a 16-1 win over South Tahoe on Wednesday.

Senior Kali Stott was 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs while junior Dana Micone was 3-for-3 with three doubles.

Zoee Wass and LaSade Conti also recorded triples for the Dust Devils.

In the circle, Conti had 11 strikeouts and gave up two hits.

Stott, Micone and Conti are all hitting over .800 through their first five games.

Conti, a sophomore, has 32 strikeouts in 11 innings. The sophomore is yet to allow an earned run and has surrender three hits.

UP NEXT: Dayton will host Truckee (2-0) in a non-league doubleheader Saturday.
