Record of service:
I have a 40-year record of active involvement and leadership in Carson City and Nevada. My career was spent protecting our community in law enforcement, capped by my service as a Division Chief with the Nevada Department of Public Safety.
After retiring from my career in public safety, I was elected by the citizens of Assembly District 40 and have been honored to serve them now for three Sessions of the Nevada Legislature. I was voted on by my peers to serve as the Minority Floor Leader for the 2023 Session.
I was able to pass several of my bills during each session, dealing with veteran’s care, protecting our communities from criminals, improving medical services and creating incentives for state agencies to save money.
I have previously served as a Commissioner on the Nevada Commission on Ethics and Chairman of the Carson City, Storey & Douglas County Salvation Army Advisory Board. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Carson Tahoe Health System (Carson Tahoe Hospital) and am an active member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community.
Education: Miami-Dade Community College (AA 1976); University of Nevada at Lake Tahoe (BS 1985)
Briefly describe the core duties of the position you are running for.
State legislators serve three primary functions:
1) lawmaking function by researching, writing, and working to pass legislation;
2) representing their districts and working to meet requests for help from constituents; and
3) oversight function for the executive branch.
A brief statement about your platform
As your legislator, I have been, and will continue to be, an advocate for conservative principles and values. We need policies that promote freedom and liberty. Nevada’s economy has suffered in the past. We need to continue diversifying and strengthening our economy, to be more flexible in supporting local businesses by removing burdensome and unnecessary regulations.
Our education system is severely challenged. I will fight for school choice that empowers parents to make the best choices for their children. Education should be focused on encouraging Nevada’s brightest future minds and expanding opportunities to meet the work force needs of the future.
Equally important as our children are our Veterans and First Responders. Our Veterans have often been overlooked and we need to show them the same support they showed us. I am committed to continuing to work with Veterans on increasing awareness of, and addressing, the exorbitant number of veteran’s suicides, by working to improve the quality of healthcare that is available to them. Our First Responders; Law Enforcement and Fire personnel, including their dispatchers, provide an invaluable service to our community which we should recognize and continue to appreciate with strong support for their efforts to protect our communities.
What is one bill draft you would submit for the 2025 Legislature to better the district and why?
I have already submitted four of my allotted 10 Bill Draft Requests (BDRs). They have delt with actions of insurance carriers, recognition of public safety dispatchers, state contractors using E-Verify for employment and protection of small business from being subject to the Commerce Tax. Looking forward, my BDRs will address the needs of our veterans, reduction of onerous business regulations, increasing and improving our medical service providers, assisting Storey County with services to their citizens, working with law enforcement on improving their services and protection of our communities and enhancing educational opportunities not just in K-12, but in post-secondary schooling.
All my Bill Requests will have the goal to improve and strengthen Nevada by ensuring a diversified, stable economy, building a fair, equitable educational system for our children and safeguarding our communities.
What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position
I am a proud Reagan Republican. I believe in the Reagan three-legged stool, and I am committed to advocate for open, accountable, and limited government. I believe in our Constitution and will fight for policies that provide freedom and promote liberty. I am proud to be ranked as one of the top Conservative legislators. I also have a long track record of working across the aisle to the best of my ability to make sure that legislation is fair and appropriate for the businesses and citizens of Nevada. During my time in the state legislature, I have fought for our Veterans, supported our First Responders, and decreased government red tape. I will continue to work on ensuring election integrity and that every vote counts. I am committed to bettering our community by providing greater educational opportunities, working to fix our mental health crisis and fighting Nevada’s deadly addiction battle.
Over the years, I have built a long track record of representing our community. This is why I am so grateful to have been endorsed by various groups across the state like the Nevada Builders Alliance, the Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Laborers 872 Power2Parent, Nevada Medical Association and over 100 Law Enforcement and Firefighting Organizations.
I have lived in Carson City for close to 45 years, am married, raised our children and am an active member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. I am dedicated to continuing to make Nevada a vibrant, economically diverse, state with quality educational choices, all within thriving communities. I have the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience to get things done. I provide proven leadership with integrity to Carson City and Nevada that you can depend on.

Record of service:
Record of service in official office or the military is none. However, I am the daughter of a decorated Vietnam Veteran. I am also the proud owner of a trucking company that engages primarily Veterans in our company, including our dispatcher.
Briefly describe the core duties of the position you are running for.
The core duties of the position I'm running for are to review, debate and vote on legislation in the Assembly, that then goes to vote in the Nevada Senate, and then onto the Governor for signature or approval.
What is one bill draft you would submit for the 2025 Legislature to better the district and why?
I have long wanted to address additional safe, clean and staffed parking locations for long haul drivers on our major roads in the state. Additional rest areas with security and overnight parking availability. This would improve
many areas of life for our town and our entire state by allowing our drivers to rest while driving. Specifically, less fatigued commercial drivers are able to serve the community better, which in turn improves safety for every driver and also indirectly reduces costs of goods to our state.
What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?
I believe I am the most qualified candidate because :
I have over 30 years of experience in Finance, Budgeting and Grants Compliance. Performing audits and preparing financial documents for States, Cities, Hospital and Tribes has given me a depth of experience I believe will be invaluable to the Legislation. At the end of that public career I transitioned to running my own trucking company for the last 11+ years. I was able to combine my Finance experience and background into running it effectively in a very challenging industry. The diplomacy needed to navigate drivers, brokerages, customers, and DOT and the Federal Motor Carrier compliance regulations is vast. These skills will make me an excellent Legislator.
