The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Carson City on Thursday.
The NWS (weather.gov) forecasts heavy snow with accumulation up to 5 inches below 5,500 feet in elevation, and up to 1 foot above 5,500 feet.
“Periods of moderate to heavy snowfall are most likely early Thursday morning with rain mixing with snow on the valley floors Thursday afternoon,” the NWS said.
A mix of rain and snow is forecast for Friday and rain is possible each day through Monday, according to the NWS.
