Washoe County has issued an evacuation order for the Callahan Ranch area, encompassing part of the Arrowcreek and the Galena areas. The evacuation line runs right up to Montreux Golf Course. According to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, “Callahan Fire is wind-driven, with fast rate of spread. Multiple agencies are responding.”

Morgan Mill high water mark unveiling Nov. 14

The Morgan Mill High-Water Mark unveiling will be held Nov. 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Morgan Mill River Access Area, 5597 Morgan Mill Road, according to a news release from Carson City. “This high-water mark project is an outreach tool designed to let people know their flood risk and to underscore how floodplains and open spaces work together to reduce their flood risk,” reads the release. “Open floodplain lands reduce flood damage by allowing water to slow down, spread out, and sink in. These lands also recharge groundwater and filter pollutants.”
