120 YEARS AGO

Farmer Treadway's ranch was sold for $4,500 in a Sheriff's sale in front of the courthouse. About four years ago, Treadway endorsed a note for H.F. Rickel of $10,000 for 90 days secured by railroad stock. Six months ago he was sued for $7,000. On Thursday he married Mrs. Treadway, his deceased brother's widow, and filed a homestead declaration. Mr. Ellis is his attorney and prolonged litigation will probably result. This was the Nevada Bank of San Francisco.

100 YEARS AGO

Theatrical season at the Carson Opera House is to be inaugurated by the well known and popular Dailey Company. This is one of the standard attractions of the West.

70 YEARS AGO

Professor C.H. Hufford of Coleman, Texas, his wife and daughter are here to hunt up early history of Paradise Valley. He was born at Star City, Humboldt County. His father, a pioneer in Northern Elko County, built the stockade which during the Indian War sheltered farmers and others. He says it is as stirring as the history of the Alamo.

50 YEARS AGO

City board meeting, which adjourned at 1 a.m., has as one item F.G. (Nick) Carter, chairman of a citizens park committee, appearing and asking for a clarification of issues between the city and the park committee.

20 YEARS AGO

Minden - the Douglas County Commission has agreed to poll the town boards of Minden, Genoa and Gardnerville to determine if the board members would like to be paid $1,800 each for their yearly effort. Ray Smith said they were being paid $50 hourly.

10 YEARS AGO

Reno - The 1991 State Fair, Nevada's "First Place For Fun," opens with a packed schedule of family-style entertainment.
