Alfred Patrick "Pat" Dempsey, a Carson City resident for 21 years, died Aug. 7, 2001.

Born Jan. 17, 1917, in Eldorado, Ark., he was raised by his sister, Clarice and her husband Howard Bly.

He married Laura Maxine Crissman in Reno on Aug. 17, 1941.

He worked as a mechanic and a customer service representative at Dodge Trucks in Downey, Calif., and later in the transportation garage at Universal Studios. He was a set mechanic on the television shows "City of Angels" and "The Gangster Chronicals." After retiring he joined the Peace Corps and served on the Caribbean island of Montserrat.

Mr. Dempsey is survived by his wife, Laura, and his daughter, Patricia.

At his request, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the foundations battling Parkinson's disease.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
