Obituary: Joseph Walter Costello

A memorial service for Joseph Walter Costello, 67, a Carson City resident for the past five years and former Gardnerville resident, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the VA Cemetery.

Mr. Costello died Aug. 10, 2000 at the VA Hospital. He was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Rhode Island to Raymond A. and Sophie N. Quick Costello.

Mr. Costello was a parachute rigger for the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Filipino-American Association of Carson City. He was a Catholic.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Vietnam and at the Yuma Proving Ground in Yuma, Ariz.

Among his survivors are his wife Helen Ortega of Carson City; daughters Marissa C. Morse, Jaimarie Dagdagan, Jeanine Ortega, Ma Victoria Ortega, Sonita Ortega, Noemi De Guzman, Miriam Iwasawa and Eloisa Amaranto.

Cremation will be at Sierra Crematory.

O'Brien-Rogers & Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
