Barber, Costella solid in 800 at Janet Evans

Justin Barber had an outstanding showing for the Carson Tigersharks in the 800-meter freestyle during the Janet Evans Invitational in swimming on Thursday in Los Angeles.

Also for the Tigersharks, Lauren Costella had a solid showing in the 800 free. Barber, who was seeded 24th, moved up to finish 15th in eight minutes, 30.22 seconds. Mexico's Sung Mo Cho won in 8:02.77.

Costella placed 11th in 8:56.04. Kalyn Keller of Arizona Desert Fox won in 8:33.23. The meet continues through Sunday.
