Children's Museum Christmas activities

The Children's Museum is hosting the following events during Christmas break:

"Cracker Shack Workshop" (graham cracker Christmas House), 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday. The cost is $5 per house, and includes, frosting, candy, and all the supplies needed to create a wonderful house. Museum membership/admission will apply.

"A Gift for a Gift Program." The Children's Museum is offering a one time gift of 10 percent off a family membership with the donation of any unwrapped new toy for its Toys for Joy Collection. Offer applies to family memberships and is available until Thursday.

"Christmas Shopping in the Gift Shop." The museum gift shop is fully stocked with new, fun and exciting gifts for the entire family, gift baskets, and a large assortment of stocking stuffers are available.

The museum is also having a Christmas Ornament Blowout Sale, selling a large selection of ornaments for 75-90 percent off. Prices are $1 each or six ornaments for $3. Hurry before the sale ends.

Senior center to celebrate Christmas

The Storey County Senior Center will celebrate Christmas with its annual party during lunch on Friday. Santa will be there. Those coming are encouraged to bring a gift to exchange.

Gifts should cost a no more than $10.

Douglas County

Group seeks arts supporters

The Carson Valley Arts Council is a nonprofit organization working to develop, support and encourage the performing and visual arts in the Carson Valley by building an arts facility. Meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the Nevada Cooperative Extension Center, 1329 Waterloo St., across from Lampe Park. Persons supporting the arts are invited to attend. Call 781-5200.

Those without family invited to Christmas dinner

Those without family this Christmas are invited to the seventh annual "Noel Christmas Dinner" at St. Gall church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville, on Christmas Day.

Dinner will begin at 1 p.m. with socializing and getting acquainted. Around 2 p.m., the traditional dinner will be served, a gift exchange will take place immediately following dinner, and dessert will be served.

Anyone in the community who will be without family is invited to attend. To plan for food the church needs your name, address and phone number and if you are single or a married couple. Please call Rita Hill, event coordinator, as soon as possible at 783-9908.

Transportation is available for those who need it.
