A&W Restaurants will give away a free root beer float with any purchase on National Float Day on Monday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. This is the second annual Root Beer Float giveaway from A&W Restaurants.
This deal isn't as sweet for Carson City residents - our only A&W closed months ago.
Even the smallest purchase qualifies, buy even an order of fries and you'll get a free root beer float. If you happen to be in Reno on Monday there is an A&W at 900 E. Plumb Lane and 65 Damonte Ranch and 1311 Baring Boulevard in Sparks.
To encourage energy conservation, Sierra Pacific Power Company again launched its successful Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling Program. Sierra Pacific is offering to pick up older spare refrigerators for free and will pay participants $30 for each refrigerator that is recycled.
The program began June 1 and runs through Sept. 30, or until funds are exhausted. Both refrigerators and freezers are eligible for the program, with a limit of two appliances per household. All refrigerators and freezers must be between 10 and 27 cubic feet.
Refrigerators and freezers must be empty at the time of pickup and should be plugged in to show that they are working. Refrigerator recycling is available for all of Sierra Pacific Power Company's residential and small commercial electric customers throughout the company's service area in Northern Nevada and northeastern California, including Lake Tahoe. Sierra Pacific Power Company is partnering with JACO Environmental to offer electric customers the opportunity to save energy and reduce their power bills. The company estimates that customers can save $150 to $200 in energy costs each year if they replace their refrigerators that are 10 years old or older with newer, more energy-efficient models.
Raley's Carson City store director Ron Grant was given his company's highest honor this week.
During its annual meeting in Sacramento, grant was selected as this year's member of Raley's President's Club, which honors exemplary store directors.
Grant began his career with Raley's in 1979 when he worked on the night crew at the Raley's in Antioch, Calif. Working his way up over the years, Ron was promoted to store director in 1988. He has served as store director at Raley's in Carson City since 2002.
"This is not a one-man job," Grant said. "You're only as good as your team. I love seeing people excel at their jobs."
Grubb & Ellis expanded its Carson City office at 680 W. Nye Lane, suite 102. Grubb & Ellis, a full-service commercial real estate firm, first opened the Carson City office in December 2002. It recently expanded its brokerage staff to meet the growing demand of the local business community.

The Carson City LEADERSHIP 2005 class elected its class officer at the June 9 public safety session. The officers:

Carson City woman Paula Beck received her certificate of registration from the Nevada State Board of Architecture, Interior Design and Residential Design. She is a residential designer.
