Eugene "Gene" or "Andy" Oliver Anderson, 79, a longtime Carson City resident, died at Highland Manor in Fallon on April 9, 2006.

Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 26, 1926, in San Diego to Carl Henry Anderson and Esther Wannerstrom.

He was a carpenter.

He played the guitar, the accordion and the piano and enjoyed hot rods, ice cream, Nevada and his children.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was preceded in death by son Tommy Anderson; first wife and mother of his children Eleanor Neely Anderson; second wife Gena Anderson; and sister Phyllis Rowe.

Among his survivors are daughters and sons-in-law Laura and Mark Hawes of Hamilton, Mont., Jenny and Bob Haas of Carson City, and Jeanne and Bill Hoover of Lemon Grove, Calif.; son Chuck Anderson of Alpine, Calif.; brothers Robert and James Anderson; sister Harriet Phelps; six grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, and friend Eddie Martinez.

Cremation took place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
