A funeral service for Elizabeth Robinson Deal, 97, of Greenville, N.C., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Cemetery in Elizabethtown, N.C.
Miss Deal died Aug. 1, 2006. She was born in Kinston, N.C., to Ralph C. and Celeste Robinson Deal.
She graduated from East Carolina University.
She taught public school in North Carolina for three years then worked as an office manager for several Greenville medical offices. She retired from Greenville Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1977.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon and treasurer of the Kate Lewis Bible class and was awarded a lifetime membership in the Women of the Church.
She worked with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program for the elderly and was a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Pitt County Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph C. Deal Jr. and Newton Harvey Deal; sister, Mary Agnes Merner; and nephew Edward R. Deal.
Among her survivors are her nieces Celeste R. Deal of Richmond, Va., Elizabeth Hartwigsen of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Mary Golad of Los Angeles and Susan Benavidez of Spokane, Wash.; nephews James M. Deal of Carson City, William J. Deal of Front Royal, Va., and Peter R. Deal of Los Angeles; five cousins; and numerous grand and great-grand nephews and nieces.
