Parks and Recreation Commission to meet


The Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Sierra Room in the Community Center, 851 E. William St.


Items include possible action on the Carson City Fairgrounds/Fuji Park conceptual plan, and discussions about landscaping for Ronald D. Wilson Park, which is in the process of being built, and the Family Night Program, held last month in Mills Park.




Douglas County


Young at Heart to meet Monday


The regular monthly meeting of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club Board of Trustees will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville. Call 783-6455.




Memorial benefit at Minden Airport


There will be a benefit to raise funds for the son and daughter of Robert Kellogg, deceased Douglas County resident, from 1-7 p.m. today at the Taildragger Bar & Restaurant at the Minden Airport.

Senior Services council to meet


The regular monthly meeting of the Douglas County Senior Services Advisory Council will be 8 a.m. Monday at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville.

Kids golf free on family day


Kids can golf free on Family Day, from 3-6 p.m. today at Washoe and Sierra Sage Golf Courses. Children get nine holes free with one paying adult per foursome. Call 828-6640.




Children can explore Rancho San Rafael


Children ages 7-12 can learn the principles of "leave no trace" wilderness exploration along with basic map, compass and other outdoor skills during a free Junior Rancho Ranger program at 2:30 p.m. today at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. Participants should meet at the white gazebo in front of the Great Basin Adventure. Call 785-4512.




Tumbleweed Tex to perform for Summer Sunday event


Tumbleweed Tex will mix fact with fiction, history with song and perform rope tricks for a free Summer Sunday family performance at 6:30 p.m. today at the Great Basin Adventure in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. All summer events are free, and gates open at 5 p.m. so that families can enjoy the park. Call 971-8561.
