Larry Chapman and Leonard Swisher, both of Carson City, returned from fishing in mid-July at the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. They both limited out on halibut (22-25 pounds) at Homer and each caught 2 King Salmon (30 pound class) on the Kenai River. Wanna guess who have all kinds of frozen fillets?
Ask Don Hettrick of Carson City about the biggest catch of the day while he was trolling near the bottom at Lahontan Reservoir. He caught a 5-pound rock! An impressive catch, but probably not very good eating.
On that same trip, Budden lost his cell phone, once at the boat dock and once in the boat. Geez, how would you like him to lead your safari into the remote areas of Africa?
If you ask Bob "Slick" McCulloch of Carson City why he replaced his new pickup with another new pickup, be prepared to jump back and cover your ears to avoid all kinds of ranting and raving with X-rated words. It is impressive!
Helen Moreno of Carson City outfished her husband Rudy, her sister and brother-in-law (Ron and Elvira Harrison of Susanville) on their fishing trips to Seward and Ninilchik, Alaska in late June. However, Helen was informed that she will not be allowed to fish with the three of them in the future. Hmmm, sounds like poor losers. Right on, Helen!
In addition, the Morenos will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1. They went to Alaska as part of an early celebration and enjoyed a drink at the Salty Dawg Saloon on the Homer Spit.
Congrats to Ron and Celeste Pierini of Douglas County on their recent wedding. Best wishes to the newly-weds. Hmmm, wonder if Celeste is going on Ron's Caribou hunt to Canada later this year.
